1) What this policy covers

This explains how OKO Labs Inc. d/b/a PequeBooks ("PequeBooks", "we") collects, uses, shares, and protects your data when you use our website and buy our products. We operate in the United States. If you are outside the US, you agree your data will be processed in the US.

2) Data we collect

• You give us: name, email, shipping address, order details, photos and names for personalization, and support messages.
• We collect automatically: device and browser info, IP address, cookies, pages viewed, and interactions.
• From others: payment processors, shipping partners, analytics and security providers.

3) How we use data

• Create your illustrations and personalized book
• Process payments, ship orders, and provide support
• Improve our site and services, prevent fraud, and comply with law
• Send service emails about your order; with consent, send marketing you can opt out of

4) Photos and deletion

• Purpose limitation: We use your photos only to generate your illustrations and fulfill your order. We do not use your original photos to train AI models.
• Original photo deletion: We delete original uploaded photos within 30 days after delivery is confirmed. You can ask us to delete sooner; we will complete deletion within 15 business days unless the law requires more time.
• Derived files (for reprints): We may keep the generated illustration files needed for reprints or support for a limited time; you can request deletion at any time. We keep minimal order records as required by law.
• Training and improvement (generated images only): We may use Company‑generated illustrations (the stylized images our system creates from your photos) to improve and train our models and services. We will not use your original photos for this purpose. Before use, we take steps to remove personal identifiers (such as names) and to avoid publishing or sharing your child's identifiable likeness.
  • Opt-out window: You can opt out within 2 years after delivery by emailing privacy@pequebooks.com with your order number and email address. We will verify your request and complete removal within 15 business days.
  • Retention period: Generated illustrations eligible for training may be retained for up to 2 years after delivery. After this period, illustrations may be permanently incorporated into training datasets and cannot be individually removed.
  • De-identification: Before any training use, we remove all personally identifiable information including names, order details, and email addresses. We use technical measures to prevent your child's identifiable likeness from appearing in training outputs.
  • Downstream use: If we train AI models using your generated illustrations, those models may subsequently create illustrations for other customers. You cannot opt out of this indirect influence, but your specific generated illustrations can be removed from our training datasets within the 2-year window.
  • Audit and compliance: We maintain a detailed audit trail of all consent decisions, opt-out requests, and image usage for legal compliance. These records include timestamps, processing status, and affected image counts.
• Marketing use: We will not use your child's generated illustrations in public marketing without your express permission.
• Backups: Copies in system backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule, typically within 90 days after deletion. Backup copies are not used for training.

5) Sharing data

We share data with service providers that help us run our business: hosting, payments, printing and shipping, analytics, customer support, and fraud prevention. We may share data to comply with law, protect rights, or complete a business transfer. We do not sell your personal data.

6) Cookies

We use necessary cookies and, if you allow, analytics cookies. You can control cookies in your browser.

7) Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. No method is perfect. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials.

8) Children’s privacy

Parents and guardians may upload photos of their children for personalization. We do not let children create accounts or place orders.

9) Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Contact us using the details below. If you are in California, you may have additional rights; contact us to exercise them.

10) International users

If you are outside the US, you agree to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States, which may have different data protection laws.
